Update 2012, Dennis has surprised everyone by being on of the top students. He has really became a great kid.

Arrived March 2007, Dennis and Benny came on the same day. He was approximately 1 years old. They have become great friends. Dennis was very serious and a bit aggressive. He has adjusted well. He sometimes gets aggressive with adults (makes you wonder if there may have been abuse). He loves attention, they all do.

Melisa Kizita

$40$150of

(sponsorships are monthly)

Arrived May 2009, Melisa was a 3-year-old girl with a crazy story! Shortly after she was born, she was kidnapped from her house in the middle of the night. After Melisa had been missing for three years, her mother noticed that a 3-year-old neighbor girl looked just like her, the mother’s side of the family! She reported to the police that she suspected the neighbor lady had kidnapped her baby. After being interrogated, the neighbor admitted to buying the baby from the father. The father said his wife knew about it but now wanted the child. All three adults were arrested.

Isaiah 58

$30$150of

(sponsorships are monthly)

Arrived April 2009, Isaiah 58 came with his brother Francis  (we call him Isaiah 58 because he was child No. 58), and Love Mercy’s (ministry that drilled the borehole) scripture verse is Isaiah 58 just seemed appropriate.

Isaiah was just over a year old.  He and his brother were abandoned in the Mt. Elgon area where there is lots of violence and poverty and every other problem you can think of. That area has been in turmoil for years. We will probably never know their story, but I am sure Isaiah and Frances have experienced more in their young years than most of us will in our lifetime.

David Maziwa (Milk)

$40$150of

(sponsorships are monthly)

Arrived March 2009, David was approximately 8 months old and barely alive. His story is sad the father chased the mother away and the child is left with him. He abandoned his on the street. He was suffering from extreme dehydration, malnourishment, malaria and TB. He spent five days in the hospital before he came to us.

We named him Maziwa (Swahili word for milk)  because every time he sees a milk carton, he goes crazy. If there is milk around, that is all he wants. The chai, poridge, bread, rice, ugali, etc., everything else can wait. He is now a healthy boy who still loves milk better than anything else on earth!
